Every season hats make their presence known on the runway, but this year hats moved up from the lowly ranks of quiet accessories to the status level of spotlight-worthy statement pieces. Every outfit needs the right finishing touch — jewelry, shoes, and a purse; the Fall/Winter 2012 Collections show there is a new “wow” factor item to add to that list — the hat. It was not that long ago that a woman rarely left her house without a hat and a pair of gloves. If the runway is any indication, those days may be returning.
