I walked into Target the other day and was immediately greeted by an eye-catching display of black and white scarves and purses and hats. As I knocked the snow off my boots and placed my gloves in my pocket, I remembered that spring indeed is coming and with it one of the hottest color combinations for the season, black and white. Personally, I have always been a fan. A black and white color scheme always looks fresh and, more importantly, it’s hard to mess it up. As long as you avoid the plain white shirt, black pants “waiter” look, you’ve got it made. However, the things I really like about this season’s take on the classic color palette are the mixing of textures, the geometric patterns, and the overall fun attitude that the clothes project. I also love the fact that the “black and white” trend can be worn in the middle of winter by adding a sweater or a jacket or a pair of tights. Remove the layering and it easily transitions into spring and, from what I’ve seen of the pre-Fall collections, it will be right in style for fall.
